![]() ![]() Perhaps things had changed perhaps my life got better perhaps I was no longer the target. The cafeteria was a lot quieter than it usually was. Yet, even though I knew every answer to those questions, I didn't take a move. What was I doing? After all these time, didn't you realize Emily was the only person you could rely on? Didn't you know how important she was to you? But instead of joining the audiences, she traversed the crowd, pushed away people who blocked her way, and rushed to me, protecting me from every harm. Then, images flashed across my mind - I was no longer one of the spectators but the target, while Emily was somewhere beyond the crowd, as always. I didn't see Emily's face but I heard sobs and wails, and I could definitely imagine how she looked like. ![]() It was like being in a movie: two characters facing each other, and the observers encouraged them to fight. "Snake! Snake! Snake!" The chant continued. Due to the blockages, I could see nothing but I bet it was something deserved to be excited for, when a few chanted again. People were swaying here and there as they cheered, which caused me to lose my "gap". "Who would like to see our clown dealing with a snake?" He sneered and the rest of his followers followed.Ĭheers rose up straight away, as such question was raised. The chant got louder and clearer as Jasper stopped in front of Emily's locker but instead of encouraging the crowd, he lifted his hand for silence. Jasper chuckled, obviously feeling excited possibly because he gained recognition and got the chance to tease someone, in front of everyone. Yet, I could see clearly, when tears were trailing down from Emily's sockets as more joined the execution. Even I could not manage to look at everything clearly, looking through tiny gaps between these numerous figures' better than nothing. ![]()
